Mr. Wijkman is a Member of the Temporary Committee on Climate Change of the European Parliament. He has been a member of several government task forces on issues related to environment, sustainable development, energy and foreign aid. During 1992-94 he chaired a special government commission analysing the possible effects for Sweden’s physical environment that could result from its joining the EU. In 1993-94 he chaired a government task force reviewing Swedish foreign aid after UNCED. In 2001, Wijkman was appointed by the UN secretary general to serve in the high-level expert panel on “ICT for Development.” He is the Vice President
of Club of Rome and the President of Global Legislators Organisation for a Balanced Environment – EU.
